When we made the decision to buy a winery, we needed to decide where in the Napa Valley. The valley is 27 miles long and of varying widths. We tasted wines from several wineries. When we liked a wine, we followed the wine back to the source of fruit. It was always Howell Mountain. We knew that is where the winery had to be.
Tom is a native Napan who grew up picking plums in late summer to make money for school. He enjoyed red wine in his early twenties and started collecting.
Tom has worked in the meat industry for 34 years, owned and operated two retail video stores for eleven years and was the first to start a baseball card vending machine business.
Tom loves to play golf, fish and serve his community. He has been on the City of Napa Planning Commission from 1998 through December of 2016. Tom was appointed to the 25th District Agricultural Association, Napa Town and Country Fair Board of Directors in June of 2013.
Tom has been involved with many organizations and fundraisers over the years. He entered the wine industry after retiring in 2003 and joined the team at Bremer Family Winery in July of 2011.

Mike was born in Southern California but spent all of his summers in the Napa Valley from the age of 10. He worked on his family’s winery operating the tractor, working in the vineyard and the tasting room. Mike will tell you that this is where he developed his passions. “I love wine and I love people. Having the opportunity to combine both at work makes every day feel like play.” Mike moved to the Napa Valley full time in 2001.
Along with wine, Mike’s passions are first and foremost family. He and his family also have a passion for Disneyland. He now heads to Southern California as his schedule allows to don his mouse ears and ride the Matterhorn.
Bob Bolan has quietly become known among his peers as one of Napa Valley’s premier winemakers. His wines are supple and expressive with uncommon consistency from vintage to vintage. Bob has a Masters degree from UC Davis and spent 6 vintages developing his craft at Stags’ Leap Winery. He worked another 5 vintages in Sonoma County, and has been making wines for Bremer Family since 2003. Prior to turning his attention to wine, Bob worked 10 years as a process design engineer and business consultant.
Dan joined Bremer Family Winery’s winemaking team in early 2020, bringing both experience and a passion for making ultra-premium wines. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis and worked harvests in Spain and New Zealand before settling down at CADE Estate Winery atop Howell Mountain in 2010. Prior to joining Bremer, Dan worked 7 years at Amici Cellars and Schramsberg Vineyards in Calistoga. Dan has a particular place in his heart for making the spicy, structure driven wines of Howell Mountain. If not in the Cellar or cave, you can find Dan cycling to and from work, playing in the garden or cooking up a storm.
“If I had more time, I would write a shorter book.”
Chance was adopted from an animal rescue group in Redding, CA. Chance’s mom had been abandoned by people who moved away and left her pregnant and in the back yard. Neighbors took the mom in but after the birth of 7 puppies they became overrun and gave mom & pups to the rescue group. Chance was the largest of the litter. Chance is an amazing, smart, friendly dog who loves to go to the winery to greet guests or out to the vineyards for a run. At 115 pounds, I am certainly glad he has 150 acres to exercise in.
Cooper arrived on May 18, 2018. He is a rescue from Istabul, Turkey. He has great energy and really keeps Chance active. Chance has been patient with Cooper and tolerates his exuberance. Chance draws the line at sharing his grapes. Cooper is a wonderful, gentle, happy boy and we are greatful to be able to add him to our four-legged family.
